"London on Lockdown" / The Journal of the Plague Year Performance

Inspiration and Aspiration

A lockdown performance by Cardboard Citizens, followed by a discussion and Q&As.

We are delighted to be hosting this session with Cardboard Citizens, who make theatre with people affected by homelessness to creatively empower them and activate social change. Since the beginning of lockdown they have been working with text taken from Daniel Defoe’s Journal of a Plague Year, written during the time of the plague in London in 1664. The group have used this as a way of talking about their own experiences during this time.

This session will feature a film, a short live performance from Cardboard Citizens actors, along with some insights into the performers’ personal experiences of lockdown and a Q&A with the team, including founder and Artistic Director Adrian Jackson
