How Can Philanthropy and Social Entrepreneurship Help End Homelessness?

Understanding What Works

In this session, chaired by Selina-Valencia McDonald, the panelists will explore the role of philanthropy and social entrepreneurship in the fight against homelessness.

Stephan Chambers of the LSE Marshall Institute for Philanthropy and Social Entrepreneurship, and Andrea Coleman from Bloomberg Philanthropies will look at the importance of philanthropy and social entrepreneurship and how they can work alongside both charities and governments to start to reduce homelessness. They will draw on specific examples of the use of social entrepreneurship to combat homelessness, and the benefits it brings to individuals experiencing homelessness.

Selina-Valencia McDonald is a Director and Private Banker within the London offices of a global bank. She is also a Board Member at the Centre for Homelessness Impact.

Stephan Chambers is the inaugural director of the Marshall Institute at The London School of Economics.

Andrea Coleman currently works on the Government Innovation Programs at Bloomberg Philanthropies.
